The British Jazz Foundation is a charity (No.: 1060300) and was founded in 1995 by Liz Lincoln. Its purpose is to support jazz musicians who are unable to work due to illness. To that end, it has organised numerous charity galas, and three international jazz festivals. Plans for a fourth festival in 2005 are well advanced.

It also administers the Spike Robinson Scholarship Fund, which provides grants to enable young British students to study jazz both here and in the USA.
